⚡️Lighting Course⚡️

Why Is Lighting Important?

Having coached a number of photographers from all over the world, one of the things I am often asked about is my lighting. How do I do it, what’s the secret? Which modifier to use? How to light a scene?

After all, what we do is capture light, be it outside, indoors, and inbetween. Upgrading your lighting skills is a sure way to create better images.

I believe in the knowledge of lighting above all. Simply put, no camera can fix bad lighting. This is why I personally haven’t upgraded my camera, instead investing into new lighting.

What Will We Learn?

In this lighting course we will cover working with studio lighting — something photographers shy away from because of how complicated it is. The truth is: if you know the principles of light, it all clicks and before you know it you are relying on your own knowledge of light shaping to create stunning images.

There will be 6 sections of this course: each going into the ideas, and then showing them in use.

  1. Introduction and Equipment

  2. Soft Light

  3. Hard Light

  4. Creating with 1 light source

  5. Working with Gels

  6. Combining the knowledge in one stunning photoshoot

These will give you the ins and outs of knowing what flash to use, what modifier to put on it, and how it all works.

It was recorded in a studio on a real set so you can see how I apply the techniques I’ve shown you to my own work.

My experience as a coach and writer for one of the largest photography publications in the world has enabled me to make the course accessible to someone with no previous knowledge of lighting.

Common Myths

I dont need to learn light, I shoot weddings and events.

Light is like Lego. When you know what bricks to use for which effect, you can create next-level imagery your clients will love. For example, how to create soft light with no modifiers, or how to use gels for creative effects that stand out.

Daylight is plenty

Light is light. The same principles apply to sunlight as to a flash. Moreover, 97% of photographers don’t know how to use lighting and miss out on creating magazine covers and making their imagination reality. Lastly, daylight is different every day and is highly dependant on circumstances outside of your control. What if there was a way to create daylight in the studio with just one flash?

I need to show off my creativity, not lighting skills.

Photography translates to painting with light. Your style and creativity without the knowledge of the basics of photography will only make your relatives happy. Clients have seen it all, and require a modern and trendy approach.

Working with light is expensive, I can’t afford a studio.

I started with shooting with basic daylight and a single flash for $40 from Amazon. In this course I dedicate a section to creating breathtaking imagery with only 1 light source.
